Can you imagine getting advice from your dearest friends on the most awkward of issues relating to your kids? Well, that is the gift of this book. It truly reads like you are in the midst of a conversation with your close pals, talking about recent issues with your pre-teen child, and yet, you're getting the best advice ever (medical and emotional), from doctors who are moms. Their advice is honest, direct and clear. They provide simple approaches to and medical insights into addressing and understanding so many complex issues. Thank you to Drs. Wider and Levkoff for giving us this easy to read, engaging and insightful book. I know I will be going back to it over and over again.

As the parent two teenagers, I've read (or skimmed in the book store) many parenting books over years. I have had only two reactions to these books: 1) I'm incredulous that people really need to read books that contain what I deem just common sense or 2) The book contains new information for me but is just too damn boring to even think about trying to convert to "kid speak".
That's why "Got Teens" is such a find for the modern parent. Not only are the authors extremely knowledgable about the modern day situations our children face, they have great approaches to communicating with your children about them. There is a feeling when you read this that both Wider and Levkoff remember distinctly what is was like to be a pre teen- teenager. While they take their jobs as educators very seriously they really calm your fears that your child is not the only one facing a particular obstacle. The big plus is that they do all this with a wonderful sense of humor. I could not recommend this book enough.
